I took my boxer to the vet. He said she needed mouth surgery to clean up all the cauliflowers. He took a blood sample and said she has extreme anemia. Red and white blood cells really low. He said she is a high risk for the mouth surgery because of this. This means bone marrow samples and lab tests and trying to raise the blood cell count BEFORE we can fix her mouth. The costs keep adding up and we have only begun. I told the vet we really didn't have a lot of money for all of this. I said the only other answer (which is breaking my heart) is to put her down. He said he would 100% agree with me on this decision. She is just a little over 8. All she does is sleep all the time, and can't eat very well because of her mouth. She has already lost one tooth which prompted me to go to the vet. She has been a wonderful and loving companion and my husband and I love her dearly. We don't know what to do.
I don't want to see her suffer. I have to have surgery myself in a month to replace my knee, and then another surgery after that to replace the other one.
I am finding it too much to deal with her and my knees. Can you give me any advice?
Thanks Christine
