Advice on buying your boxer and places to find boxer puppies for sale.
Our number one tip is to buy from a responsible breeder and help put an end to puppymills. Better yet we would prefer you to consider a rescue boxer first. Many fine boxers are available through the rescue efforts of many boxer breeders, lovers and associations. We have a list of possible places for you to look for your next boxer companion from responsible breeders and rescue organizations. Remember many puppymills could be your next door neighbors.
Our number two tip is to buy only health tested boxers from responsible breeders who are dedicated to trying to eradicate those diseases that we can, like thyroid problems and heart problems. Hip dysplasia can be tested through xrays from your local vet as well. Responsible breeders will have no problem giving you their vets phone number. Please be aware that responsible breeders will have just as many questions for you as you do for them. Contracts are a must and will require you to return the boxer to the breeder should you no longer be able to care for them for the lifetime of the dog and may have many other requirements for both breeder and new owners. Responsible breeders don't have more than 2-3 litters a year and perferrably one or only on occasion. All breeding females will be at least 18 months old or older before they are ever bred. Try the list of american boxer breeders listed within this section or try: www.nextdaypets.com www.puppyfind.com Remember to screen the breeders well at these sites. One last thing boxer breeders who have never shown or championed a boxer in any organization can NOT tell you whether a puppy is a show prospect or show quality, heck after 40 years of owning this breed I can not say with absolute certainity a 8-12 week old puppy is a definate show prospect at best I can say at this time is the puppy shows possibility for being a show prospect, run from anyone claiming any difference !
TIP : ANYONE WHO HAS MORE THAN 3 BREEDING FEMALES IS SUPPOSED TO BE LICENSED AND INSPECTED BY THE USDA ( UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE ) AND IN OUR OPINION IS MOST LIKELY A PUPPYMILL !
